Course Description

This telehandler training course aims to provide the participant with all the requirements needed for obtaining a TSHA Trained Telehandler Operator License.  Successfully completing this course will allow anyone enrolling for this course to operate any non-slewing Telehandler within Australia.

This course does not cover the requirements for using a slewing Telehandler or crane jib attachments with a lifting capacity over three tones.

Entry Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successfully complete the enrolment process including LLN assessment.

Where training and assessment is to be completed in the workplace, the following entry requirement is included:

  • Nominate and have approved a suitable workplace to complete the course.

Duration

The total duration is 1 day. Training and assessment are conducted.

Training Overview

  • Pre-operational Inspections: on the telehandler and each type of attachment being conducted
  • Operate: shifting loads and traveling through obstacles
  • Plan Operations: Hazard management and consultation
  • Conclude Operations: Parking, securing the equipment, and following site-specific procedure

Vocational Outcome

This course is programmed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to work safely in the construction Industry.

Pathways

Students who successfully complete this unit of competency will be awarded a statement of attainment and wallet sized card. Employment pathways upon the completion of this unit of competency include a range of possible job titles such as telescopic materials handler operator.

Students completing this unit of competency may decide to undertake additional studies such as RIIMPO316E Conduct self-propelled compactor operations, RIIMPO318F Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations and RIIMPO320F Conduct civil construction excavator operations.
